#s on bottom are AWW099E 2 Took it from a 74 and it has the cap style side yokes. Think it's a 3.08 but don't understand date or big block style side yokes. Thanks for any help.

the yoke generally won't identify ratio...mark a line on the front yoke and the housing (like morking a dist.) then do the same of the side yoke..as you count the number of revolutions you turn the front yoke to get the side yoke one revolution...that'll give you the ratio..

Sometime in the early 70's (73 or 74), all cars started to get the big block style yokes with the caps and by 75, all cars had the larger 3" halfshafts also.

according to Corvette by the Numbers, Alan Colvin ...

AWW099E2 breaks down to:

AW = factory original 3.08 (1968 - '69 - '71 - '73 or '75)
W = Warren Michigan assembly plant
099 = julian date (april 9 is 99th day of year) and julian date started with 1971 rear end production, so this would be '71,'73 or '75.
E = Eaton positraction
2 = 2nd shift

PS - in his book, 1974 is missing the 3.08, so I suspect AW is 1974 also.
