Had a buddy help me 3 days ago set timing and adjust out carb to where the idle was "smooth" in gear..(around 750)..The curb idle was set to 1000....I cranked it yesterday to move it and it had the rough idle again. .but would not die in gear though..I replaced all ignition components and set timing ..Is there maybe a carb/choke issue?...could the carb not be holding settings (idle speed/rich-lean) we made recently?...It has the Rochester QuadraJet....Thanks,Darryl
I can olly assume this thing is an automatic, setting your idle out of gear at 1000 is a bit fast, IMO. In fact the thing probably bangs into reverse. My '75 (not at all stock) but with a TH400 trans, only drops about 100 rpms............I think I would first check for a vacuum leak somewhere.........
