I recently purchased a 77 coupe that had been stolen and recovered 18 yrs ago. The question is; how many different locations are the VIN number stamped on this car? It has NOM engine and the VIN plate was removed from the pillar after recovery by the titleing state. Is there anywhere on the frame that I could find this data? I would realy like to put the original VIN back on if possible.

There is a partial VIN on the frame right under the body sill on the drivers side and one more left of the gastank (on my 79). Both are on top of the frame rails. Sometimes difficult to see because of the rust on it.

Basically you would need to remove the body to get a clear view.

Driverside back wheel it is stamped on the top of the rail before the body and frame mount. Hard to get at and see especially if the frame is rusted.

Transmission also had a stamp if it's still original.

Thanks to all who replyed, I just had the left rear off when I changed my wheels and had no clue. Looks like I am going to need and brake out the borsecope at work to verify the data.
