I bought my '71 a few years back and it has the Monza style cut out fixed lights. I'd like to go back to the original pop-ups but I have absolutely NADA of the original system. No lights, buckets, vacuum hoses, actuators, nothing. I know I'm going to have to hit some junk yards for parts but which would be cheaper - getting buckets and lights and going the Killer Lights route with electric motors or trying to replace the whole vacuum light system? Thanks!
Several guys have done the killer lights thing and love it compared to the vacuum system. If you are going back to original pop ups, then killer would be a good option.
Even if you take the killer lights route, you have to get the original buckets, covers, bushings and most of the hardware, so If you are considering the cost, I would recommend buying a complete original units and a pair of vacuum relays (used, ebay .. etc) and you'll be ready to go and for less cost than getting all the hardware and then buying the killer lights kit (which is expensive already). just my 2 cents.
Yeah, I'm looking around at headlight assemblies now. Yikes they're expensive! Bubba decided to replace the front clip on my Vette and he got rid of a lot of stuff - like A/C, the original lights, wiper cover, etc. Ain't it fun?

WHY in God's name anyone would go for restoring the original popup assy's is way beyond ME.....I thought they were funky/clunky way before the Deer took them out one night nine years ago, and was all too happy to ditch them then....put in Eckler's sugar scoop trays, which have since been modded to the look on my site now....
lo profile camaro bulbs and 1/2 the space for openings.....
