I had to adjust the parking brake to pass inspection, and found that I had no parking brake at all. Bought the SS stuff, got ready to install it, but couldn't install those nice parts on those funky trailing arms. So the parking brake adjustment snow-balled to a complete rear suspension, rear end, frame, gas tank, and exhaust overhaul.

In these coming 4 cold/wet months I was going to change my cam & drop the trans. pan to find out what's up with the TCC. After reading this lot maybe I'll just wash & polish the car instead ;)
My worst case of Whileuratit-itis lasted almost 10 years to the day & cost over 10 times as much as I'd planned on (£3500 instead of approx £250). During those 10 years I had bad cases of Whileuratit-itis with other vehicles as well. The Vette scares me, spares prices are high, but I want it perfect. Whileuratit-itis may be the end of me with the Vette

Here's my saga...
- Bought the car, knowing it was a fixer-upper
- Had it inspected to get some idea of what a shop would charge to do the work, in what priority
- Decided to have the heads rebuilt, and get it back together and "safety-ed", so I could race my friend with a Rustang.
but, while I was at it, I HAD to:
- Replace the intake and cam with Performer
- So needed a timing chain
- also needed to replace the push rods and rocker arms
- had to clean and paint the timing cover
- had to clean and paint the block
- leak in the back, so had to replace the main rear seal
while I was at that, I replaced the oil pump and distributor shaft
- had to rebuild the front suspension with poly, cut springs, new shocks, POR-15 all the components and the frame
- Steering was leaking, so bought the replacement kit
- Steering box had to be cleaned and painted
- so then I had to clean and paint the master cylinder and booster
- Brake lines were rusty, so replaced them all over with stainless
- Rad was leaking, so had to have it re-cored, replacement support and seals to go along with it
- Replace the water pump
- Rebuild the carb

Clean engine in dirty surrondings is no good, so had to detail the engine compartment
- Couldn't stand that rad-back is nice, nose is dirty, so rebuild the headlight assemblies

- Looks like the metal frame bits in the nose are rusty, so I'm not sure what awaits me there...
- Trailing arms will need to go out to get the parking brake working, so it looks like I have a rear-end rebuild in my future :nopity
- Frame is rusty enough that it will need to be replaced someday, but I want to drive it for at least a couple miles. I only put about 20 miles on it before it went to sleep in the garage.

Am I havin' fun?
He11 yes.

Maybe I'll change the cam for a little extra power. See my sig. Vette down for 2 years.

Changed carpets in my 71... ayear later and God-knows-how-many "while I'm at it" and it's running. Bad news is I too have a stress crack in my headlight bracket. Pulling it out next weekend and getting crack welded then replacing bushings, springsds, bearings, everything - might as well...while "im at it"!
