Not hard. I'm guessing it's an auto and you will be leaving the transmission in the car? Do you want a step by step or just a comment saying it's not hard to do with time and hand tools?
It does seem fairly easy, except the looooooong front end that we all have to deal with.
My only question...with a 4-speed car, is it easier to remove the trans with the engine or unbolt the tranny from the bellhousing? Guess it would also depend on whether or not the tranny needed work. But in general, opinions?
Being a Vette, it's seemed to me a bit easier to pull just the motor and drop the trans from under the car. The long nose make going in from the side a better option.
Also keep in mind that manual cars have a welded in cross member, and you have a clutch to deal with when pulling and installing the trans.
A lot easier to take it out than to put it back in. But, still not very hard at all. I just did a swap to the GMPP 290 hp New Crate Motor. Got as much power as a C-5 now!
