Does anyone have a fix for bad courtesy lamp sockets on a 1970? Both of my sockets are missing an ear that holds them in the mounting bracket so they won't stay put very long. How is the braket fastened to the kick panel on the passenger side? Mine is held down with a sheet metal screw & it keeps working loose. On the driver's side, the bulb hits up against the hood release rod. Anyone else have that problem & cure? Thanks for the wisdom folks.
On my '77 I bent the driver's side bracket to angle the bulb away from anything else, and the passenger side bracket was held in with a screw.
If that screw keeps backing out try some thread lock of some kind.
You might be able to buy new sockets from someone like Doc Rebuild. Mine need to be replaced too but I'm holding out until they start falling out for lack of support.
