Default Help

I have a few questions about my 79. Any input on any of them would be a tremendous help.
1. Did the 79 have an alarm system? How do I know if it has an alarm system?
2. The headlights are slow to go up. Sometimes I have to rev the engine a little bit to get them up. Any thoughts?
3. When cruising, the right rear brake makes a squeaking sound. When I push the brake pedal in, the sound gets higher in pitch, but when I push harder, the sound goes away. I replaced the calipers on the rear axle and pads. Could the disc possibly be warped? If so, what would I have to do?
4. I would like to service my radiator before winter. Can anyone walk me through it?
5. I am looking for a mid 70s or early 70s corvette that is not in very good shape. I would like to modify one for racing, but I would feel guilty about ruining any that are nice and stock. Can anyone recommend anything?
Once again, any input would be very much appreciated.
Thank you,
Doug

Wow that should have been at least four, maybe five different threads.

#2 - Vacuum leak or work actuators and relays.
#3 - Might not be standard brakes...did you check the condition of the parking brake?
#4 - By service, do you mean tested for a problem or do you want to flush your system?
#5 - Check Ebay and Craigslist for a basket case C3 with rotted frame and birdcage. Those cars end up getting crushed or sold for spare parts for other projects.

1) It was standard from the early 70s onward. The switch is part of the driver-side door lock.

2) Vacuum leak. Lots of posts here about fixing it. Read this thread and you'll find all you need: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1603168

3) Sounds like a pad just needs some disc brake grease.

4) What do you want to do to the radiator? Just flush it? There's a current thread about radiator flushing, I think.

5) Just keep an eye on the classifieds.

6) You'll tend to get better responses if you keep posts to one topic per thread with a descriptive thread title.
