You have to remove the knee pad, and disconnect the springs that hold it in place.
Or...just pull VERY hard.

The whole dash pad? Take off the dash pad screws and the two facing the door panel, it should just fall out to the right.

DB - Say what? What is a knee pad?? Are you saying I can just pull on it (hard) and it will come off??

I think he was just talking about the pocket - if you pull on it hard enough the springs will break. I messed one of mine up a while back. There are only a handful of screws holding that whole panel up, it won't take long to get them out. Three across the top, two in the door opening and one by the center cluster.

Yep, he nailed it. I totally missed that you meant those whole panel and thought you meant the map pocket alone. My bad.

It can be kind of destructive when the panel falls down, spins out of the door opening and bounces on the concrete...

Pretty much, unless you have a small, triple-jointed arm. Taking the whole panel down is easy.
