I just purchased a project 76 and the brake pedal has zero pressure. I was told by the former owner that it was the brake booster. I just wanted to ask if there is anything else I can try before I buy a new booster and MC?
Check all four calipers for any signs of leaks. Check to see if there is any leak around the MC where it bolts up to the Booster (brake fluid dripping off the bottom of the booster?). Test the booster's vacuum check valve and replace it if defective. If you don't see anything leaking anywhere, and the check valve is ok, try bleeding the brakes and see if you get any pedal. One or more of the pistons in the calipers might have sucked some air back in (due to rotor run-out or sometimes a piston just sticking a little if the car has sat for a while wirthout "exercising the brakes".
Usually, when a booster fails you get the opposite of no brake pedal pressure - you get a very hard pedal. The pedal going all the way to the floor is most commonly air in the system or the MC, if you don't have any signs of leaks at the calipers.
