Glad you figured it out. All the way back is the ACC position so anything on that circuit will have power.

Be careful, batteries that are fully drained need to be charged slowly before the alternator gets to it or it will suffer wear faster.

Now I still have the lights going a little dim at night... So would you think the alt upgrade is a solution?

its a meter that goes from -40 to 40

See where the needle sits key on engine off. Then start the car, it should go positive. Next turn on everything you can, high beams, radio, AC, and see if it stays positive. If so its OK

Good luck, Paul

Possible. A good stereo will dim lights for sure and like I said it's always good to have an updated charging system when you start adding things like stereos and fans.

Check the ground for the headlights too. That can also cause them to be dim. There can be lots of challenges with 30 year old cars

I got a new battery yesterday...meter on the dash still shows below 0. Wondering if my alternator is still bad. I guess we'll see how the battery is after a few drives.

Default Battery keeps on going dead? Any ideas...

My new Die Hard died on me in a couple of weeks. I
return it to place of purchase. The shop manager said
I'm sorry to have to tell you this Lorin pointing to an
old yellow battery setting on the floor it's dead. My
words were I'm sorry to hear about old yellow but
what about my battery that setting on the bench?
Well the man did every thing possible including
mouth to cell. Just couldn't bring it back- he wanted to
keep it for a couple of days and give it a slow charge.
I return to pick it up, dog gone I said you gave that battery one heck of a charge, he was smiling, I continue when had brought it in the post were on the side now they are popping out the top. I got another battery but never return to the store.
