Default Pulling Heater core.

Where ( inside or outside in engine comp. ) is the heater core? If it's in the engine comp. is it easier with the motor out. How hard is it? Waiting for my manual. Thanks, Tony

The heater core is accessible from inside. When I did my 69, I clamped off the 2 heater hoses and removed the hoses from the core. Once the hoses were disconnected, I removed the passenger side dash pad. I believe there were a couple bolts/nuts I had to remove on the engine side of the firewall. Then the inside duct work to gain access to the core.

One word of advice - pressure test the core before you install it in the car. I put a new core in my 78. The only leak when I did my engine break in was the new heater core!

I have the engine out now, does that make things easier? If I can wait, I don't want to go off on too many different things. The last owner had put some silicone radiator stop leak. Had the radiator checked thinking that all I need was flushing, but the guy said that my rad. would not make it because of the silicone blocking some of the core. So it makes me wonder about the heater core. So can it wait or having the motor out helps? Thanks

Thanks Scott for the heater core link. Very nice looking 68. The paint job looks sweet. Tony
