When my motor was rebuilt in my 73, it was repainted orange. I did not notice it was Red Orange until I was doing some touch up in the engine bay. That's when I notice that the Chevy Red/Orange was a better match than the regular Chevy Orange.
Don't know actual years this was used for OEM. But it looks great with black and chrome parts accented under the hood.
Duplicolor makes several different varieties of each color code. I just painted my pan 2 weeks ago with DE1620 Chev Orange Ceramic Engine Enamel rated at 500 degrees, and it is very glossy. Looks great, just bright.
I would say that is a bright color.. But it will look good all dressed up.. You gonna take pic when its all put together?
We got this 75 a couple months ago, fairly unmolested, but nasty.
My intent was to plug off the exhaust crossover. As you can see it had gotten pretty hot, enough to cook the valve covers. Probably the pass side valve stuck at one time.
I ordered an ARP stainless dressup bolt kit, and got a set of aluminum LT1 valve covers to install.
After I also flush out the cooling system, I'll let my wife drive it for a couple months to shake it out.
I just painted my block red using G2 engine paint kit, looks great, but its red not orange, I thick they will make any color up for you as a special order
