Default Floor pan repair/replacement questions

Hello,

I have a 76 project car and find that after removing the seats and carpeting that the floor pans are rotted in the exterior side rear corners where the seat-belt and seat track are mounted.
My first question is, has anyone out there cut-out and fabricated a replacement piece similar to my situation? My second question is, what is the process for removing and replacing floor pans?
Any assistance and diagrams would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Are the steel reinforcement pads rusted away? or is the Fiberglass actually rotted?
I have never seen a composite structure rot.
My guess is that you are just seeing the pads rusting out. You can purchase replacements and they are riveted in place

'76 has steel floorpans and they are commonly rusted out. You can buy replacements from Corvette Central and other places. You can also use 78-82 pans with a few mods. These seem to last better for some reason.

I replaced the floor pans in my '76. They were in pretty bad shape. I bought a '79 rear clip off a guy on e-bay. It ended up being cheaper than two new pans.

I've been told the mid-years had mild steel floorpans that rusted rather quickly. The bubble glass has galvanized floor pans.

I used large head steel rivets to hold mine in place, then tacked small welds with a wire fed. Hope this helps.

Hey first post here, but ive been learning alot reading posts. I too am "freshening up" a 76 to make it a decent driver. I have a very low budget. Thought I would share some pics of the pieces I made to fix the floor on the driver side. Oddly enough the pass side was perfect. Made the front part of 14 gauge steel and the seatbet well of a more ductile 18 gauge aluminum. For the front I used a 24x24 sheet and cut it out, perforated the seams, bent it and welded it up. Liquid nails seals it all up, lol.

I know a lot of you will probly say its bubba-ed up, but whatever.
