5-speed purchase
I'm thinking about changing my automatic to a 5-speed. This will probably be this winter's garage fun. Does Kiesler or classic chevy 5-speed give a forum discount? Is there a cheaper way to go? Maybe a list of parts that could be bought to build my own kit?

The cheapest way a few members have installed a 5 speed transmission is by swapping in a Ford T5. Overall, from start to finish, it will take around $1500 and that's with a new bell housing and a hydraulic clutch install.
Do a search, there are a lot of guys that have done the swap.
Keisler has a few forum members and they will likely find this thread and chime in with any specials or discounts.

Whatever you do, be certain you are getting a 2.5 inch driveshaft and not a 2 inch. Don't know why, but one supplier ships a 2 inch and the other includes the 2.5 inch. All you gotta do is ask to learn which one is which; no badmouthing on the forum! Then, be certain you have the darn thing checked for balance; having it straightened is even better than balancing. At least have it checked. It's better than going through everything else in your car only to learn the shaft may have been the problem all along.
