They were a factory option for '69 (TJ2). Cost you $21 back then and you got eight of them. These days the aftermarket providers carry them and you're not likely to get one for the price of the original eight. They install with special screws and barrel nuts after you make the necessary holes in the gills. They were popular and lots of '68 owners bought them over the counter and added them to their cars. My '68 had them when I bought her.

No kidding about the price! they're $40.- each reproduction at most vendors. Also, they're painted silver with a chrome edge. Sure are cool though.

I looking for those too...
I also want some custom made for the gills on my hood...I am thinking of
custom making all of them rather than the vender prices....
