Starting/Electrical problems....
I recently bought a 79 vette. I was doing some work to the car and finished putting in a new engine. The next day I went to start the car and heard a pop and saw a cloud of smoke coming from the passenger side of my engine compartment. I looked into it further and realized I left my starter hanging by the wires when I tried to start it. (the starter connection points and wires were against my headers) I figured that I had fried my starter. I tested it and it came back good. I put new connections on and tested my battery that also was good. When I try to start it absolutely nothing happens. Im pretty sure I'm getting power to my starter. What could this be? Please help. Is it my ignition switch? I dont know if this is related or not but my power windows, winshield wipers, and dash instrument lights now don't work. They did up intil this incident. Ive had this engine running very well until this incident. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thankyou very much.
