I was wondering if anyone has contemplated a racing wing on their C3. In the near future I plan on aquiring a C5 which I'd like to turn into a C5-R (body only...for now...) Then I got to thinking about how that C5-R wing would look on a C3. I own a '77. Any comments? Has anyone done this already? If so...pictures please.
Please don't do it! Unless the motor and such is built up to the point that you really need a wing to keep the back down even the ricers would be laughing at you.
FIRST, I am a firm believer in "It is your car...do whatever you want to it"!!!
HOWEVER, Please don't put a BFW (big freakin wing) on your C3!! Unless (like Casper said) your C3 can hit lightspeed and requires the additional downforce for safety.
I can see I'm not making many friends...oh well...I'll just elmer's it on when I get it and go from there. You never know...the horsepower I get from the wing could put me into the 6's in the 1/4!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hehe...I just want the riceboys to feel at home when they're seein' the back end of my car...I can hear it now "Dizzamn...that wing must give him at least 23 HP"
Wow that thing looks dangerous...I was shootin' for a wing that didn't exceed the height of the T-tops. Droooooooolllllllllllllllllllll
I've always wanted a an adjustable racing wing. But I have never found just what I liked. Mallett sells a really nice one for c-5's that I've seen at different open road races.
I'm able to kick most ricer's butts - Every Vette needs 315/17 rear tires and 3.5 inch exhaust.
That's a nice wing you've got on there gkull. Nice paint too...I'm looking at something a little more extravagant but thanks a lot for the pic. It's giving me ideas.
Just click on the following URL's I don't really have very many pictures scanned in. Like I said before i would like something better. Like adjustable with end plates. One of the real problems is with one of a kind vette's is you have no where to hide. I've kind of blown off police in the course of my normal driving style and it can be a week or a month later and they remember you! LOL http://temp.corvetteforum.net/c3/gkull/g1.jpg
Don´t say that, there are a few of us who like wings. -chicken wings- :jester
No, j/k
I plan to build a rear wing for my C3....
Hey guys, that´s another outing...
This guy doesn´t only respect an S2000, he will even put a rear wing on his C3! :hat
Like somebody said before, do what YOU like and not what others tell ya to do.
My vette is not a max. performance car and I´m sure it will look good with the wing I plan to build.
Last week I visited an old teacher and we spoke about this topic..(building a wing)
He´ll help me designing a good wing with the help of the windchannel he has acces too. I did a little research during my engineering school time with it - measured the cw-factor and so on. So this is one interesting topic I´ll post in the future. We´ll even measure a 1/18 model of a C3 and study turbulences in the smoke wind channel...
To say that only racing cars need a wing is not true.
Drive at the autobahn here in Austria or Germany - 100 mph is a normal speed
You can create big downforce with the right wingprofile that will make your car handle better.
And one last thing to say. De Tomaso Pantera. This car isn´t faster than our vettes (or hopefully not much :D ) and it has a big wing.
So, it´s a matter of taste...
