I'm confused at how these work because of different gear ratios in the rear end and transmissions of different type cars, also wouldn't tire size be a factor? I have a 336 rear with 25 1/2" rear tires. Thanks
Are you going to be running an electronic speedometer in your 77? If not, the only real function your VSS will perform is to help your ECU differentiate between idle, car-at-rest and idle, car-coasting. These two states have different requirements and the VSS signal is there only to keep your engine from stalling. The quantity of signal (i.e VSS "reading" 30 mph when vehicle is going 50 OR 20 mph is not important). Please go the JAGS THAT RUN website and get the TPI swap manual - its good reference.
That is the correct VSS for your application. You first need to deal with getting the correct combination for the speedo to work correctly with your rear tire and gear selection. If you are using the stock gears and tire size then just hook up the VSS to the tranny then the speedo cable to the VSS. We can advise you on which driven and drive gears to buy to make your speedo accurate if you have changed gear ratio or tire size. There is a great calculator available for that online if you search.

That makes sense. I had that book untill I left it laying around. The Wife has a 2 day laying around period until it gets dumped in the trash and She's **** about this (Well not **** but you understand what I mean) and I'm a cheap bastard that hates spending money on something that's already bought

Thank you. This is what I was trying to get at. My speedo has been off sense the new rear gears and tires where put on. I know I need a new gear for the trans and will try and synchronous them prior to this car coming out of the garage with the new TPI.
