Hurray! got my strut rods off without having to cut anything!
But now my vbp poly bushings don't want to go in the strut. In the photo you can see a shiny sleeve. Is that sleeve supposed to be removed so that the bushing goes in? Or do I really have to force it in.
..... VBP Smart Strut Rods...... the best value for money for your rearend!
Will change the rear swing-arm lenght, will reduce the camber gain...... and will dramatically reduce the infamous jacking problem of any C3 Corvette!!!!
Stop working with your hammer...... and start work with your Credit Card !!!

Trying to keep her more or less original.
Have been trying to hammer away at those sleeves and they won't budge.
Also tried the vice with a socket still no luck.
Is there any other way to do it at home without taking it to a shop with a press??
.....of course..... is a good thing to keep a nice hystorical car as much original you can!
But..... nobody tell you that you have to trow away you original strut rods....!
keep it in the garage...... and install the new one.....!!
Remember...... the Smart Strut Rods are one of the most "Hystorical" thing you can bolt in your car....... was one of the first suggestion of a man named...... Dick Guldstrand!
I finished the message withouth to give you an idea to disassemble your Struts!!!
From the pic you have posted, it looks that your problem is to pull-out the outer sleeve of the original rubber grommet...
Try to make one cut on it, with a hand saw from the internal.
The sleeve should become elastic..... as a spring..... and then you shold be abe to press it out with a small effort!
I agree with the above, put a hacksaw blade inside the strut end and cut the remaining bushing through. It is rust seized to the strut, the cut will relieve it and it will come out with you hammer method.

Ingenious!!!!
I'll try it tonight.
Honestly I'd love to put on the smart struts but after forking out for Bilsteins and bushings (which I'll hopefully finish tonight) I've kinda met the monthly budget. But then again it's Only 7 days to November.
There are two different size eyes on strut rods, depending on the year. My Energy Suspension kit came with both the old (small) and new (large) bushings.

Many thanks Stroker 427, They came out like butter after sawing Feels a lot tighter when driving it. While working on it I noticed my trailing arm bushings are shot. I guess that will be my winter project.
