I own a 1972 Corvette that my sister purchased new. I have all the documentation and was researching the Engine #s. My Block # is 1S520496 and the cast # ends in "CKW", I believe the first #s are V0427 The problem I have run into is that the CKW is not in the black book. Is there another source for the cast #? My heads are also stamped "42". Any help would be appreciated.
thanks

According to the NCRS judging book, CKW is a 200 hp 350 w/ a 4 speed. Take a closer look at the VIN derivative. It should be
"12S5XXXXX" 1 is for Chevy division, 2 is for model year, S is for St. Louis. The last 5 digits should match the tail end of your VIN.
Regarding the broadcast code prefix, V stands for Flint assembly plant. "0427" stands for April 27th. Based upon this date, the code on the trim tag in the driver's door jamb should start with "E" for May. The following number(s) are the date the body was assembled and should be within a few weeks of the engine assembly date.
PS - 42 is not a cylinder head casting number. If the original valve covers are on the car, the head casting # can be seen through the oil fill hole in the valve cover.
