Default Frontend body sag????

The gap at the top edge of the door opening on my 1981 is quite large compared to the middle and bottom portions. Also the gap between the top of the front tires and the wheel lip is almost non existent. The rear tire to wheel lip gap is almost two inches and this is with the longer bolts to lower the rear suspension. I've checked the frame to ground clearances, they're equal at the front and the back along the door sill area.

Can the fiberglass front clip develop a sag over the years?

Doesn't anybody have a answer?

How is the front body supported, can the bolts get loose and the support drop lower?

The doghouse (front end) is bonded to the body. It can't sag unless the car has been whacked and suffered poor collision repair. Your door gaps are the result of how the gaps were ground at the factory and can usually not be improved without adding material to the trailing edge of the fender. Your front springs can sag with age and this might be the loss in height you see. What size tires/wheels are you running? Bigger
tire/wheel combinations take up more space in the openings.

I have the original optional size, 255/60R15 tires. I replaced the front springs several years ago with MOOG springs, they are to OEM specs. The front wheel lip sits about 1/2" above the tires, whereas the rear is about 2". I think it looks bad, either the rear needs to come down or the front needs to go up.

Widgett, Easy Mike is exactly right. The front end cannot move away from the door post. The rear end would be easy to lower by installing longer bolts between the spring and the trailing arms. Craig
