Is there a good replacement for an edelbrock performer RPM intake for a 350, holley street avenger 670? I need to get my carb/air cleaner assembly lower for my original hood to fit. I have already tried a dropbase air cleaner -not enough clearance. I would prefer not to lose any performance.
i don't know if your going to find anything shorter as far as performance manifolds. You could try the performer but i don't know if it's actually shorter then the rpm.
I think the GM ZZ-series engines have the shorter version of the original LT-1 high rise intake. It is part number 10185063. They are supposed to be 1/2" shorter than the original LT-1 piece but produce the same HP. They are on Ebay all the time so don't pay too much for a brand new one. There is a used one for sale now that you might be able to pick up cheap. Auction #170162759861. Dual bolt pattern on the carb flange too.
The Edelbrock Performer is a restrictive manifold. It hurts you in the higher RPM range for sure.
My previuos engine (in my 79) was a 383 with Edelbrock Performer RPM (std. and Air Gap) with an Edelbrock carburetor..... and with a filter drop-base (with some fine and sophisticated technology with.... hammer).....
..... no problems!!!!!
Only thing you have to keep everything on the limit...... thin filter cover, short stud and thin bolt.
Regarding performances...... I guess The Performer RPM is the best dual$-plane in the market!
