Default 68 door window conversion

I'm in the process in looking for a set of 68 doors however I'm curious to know what is the difficulty factor when converting a manual window to power window. Also, is there a difference between a 68 coupe door and a 68 convertible door. Doors on the car are presently powered 69 styled and good condition

thanks, Lou

Power window conversion shouldnt be too difficult. Doors themselves are the same, the window glass is different.

It was easy. I added power windows to my '68. If you already have the wiring, motors and regulators from the '69 doors, even better. Most everything will transfer over to '68 doors when you find them.

If you are currently looking for a set of '68 doors, make sure you get as much hardware with them as possible. The door latches and locks are unique to that year and can be hard to find if they are missing.

Hi

You asked if the coupe doors are interchangeable with the cabrio doos.
I don't think so. Not sure how big the difference is, but there is a difference. Mainly the door glass and the cabrio wedge strengthening . It might be possible to convert from ea other, but I am not sure about this.

If you have a 69 style door installed to your 68 and are not too worried about this, I would keep it and convert this door to PW. As said, 68 year only parts are hard to find, mainly the key locks.

I dont think 68 doors had the pins on the rear of convertibles, at least the early ones didnt. Then the doors except windows are the same. There were running changes on these rear stabilizers through the years.

Hi

That's correct. My 68 convertible door has only the wedge in the rear, not the younger model receptacle pin.
Thanks, good to know that the doors are interchangeable. makes it a touch easier to locate one.
