I recently found a 93 LT1 for an amazing price so I have decieded to buy it instead of a ZZ4. (Gotta love fuel injection)
I have been told that the LT1 will bolt right into stock motor mounts, but my 1980 Stingray, has a TH350 and I want a manual.. I am looking at going and getting a T5 from an 80's Camaro or Firebird. I guess my first question is on what cars can I take a T5 off of and rebuild to take 300-350hp.
Next is the ugly question. Are the spines the same? Will I need a new driveshaft? Worse yet will the crossmembers need to be changed?
Yes,yes, and yes. I think the T-5 will work with a stock LT-1. Yes, regardless of 4L/60 or T-5 you will need a new cross member and a shortened driveshaft.
Why the T-5? Seems like the 4L/60 would work good.
i honestly think that T5s are junk. if your gunna go all out with a late model LT1, why not go with a T56?? or keep the auto and put a killer shift kit in it
