I would like to take my '69 in for an alignment and I was wondering if the factory specs are sufficient or should I give them other numbers to shoot for? I had an alignment done months ago and I was happy because it did away with a lot of the front end wander. But now I see that all the desire for the car to drift on the straights is still there. Any suggestions???
This car has all new parts after a nut and bolt resto.
Have then hit those numbers or as close as possible but the key item to tell then is to make the numbers equal side to side. if they can only get 2 degrees of caster on one side then they will have to make the other side 2 degrees.
Those are the numbers I was looking for thanks!
After getting the drivers wheel truly parallel with the center line of the car, I then got the right side wheel parallel with the left side. Bingo zero toe and it rides with no darting.
Caster and camber are good!
Thanks guys!!!!
I did get it up to 90 mph with no shake what so ever.
The only down side to this is that the State Police are the ones that told me I was doing 90mph.
He wrote me up for 75 in a 55.
Wow I never had a speeding ticket before.....I think I will look at this as an honor....After all I had to get a Vette before I could speed and have fun at it !!!!

The alignment specs will differ depending on your use of the car. For example if you punch in the numbers I run on either of my C3's in for the stock alignment specs just about everything will come out red (out of spec). the reason being that I set up my cars for handling far more then tire wear. I work at a tire shop, with two great alignment techs that work for me. So I normally stay late at work when Aligning my cars for an autocross event. Now if you want your car setup as a pretty aggressive street setup I can give you the specs I run, but there will be some tire wear, especially the inside edges since I run a good amount of negative camber front and rear. Be aware that any alignment shop that says they can align your car in less then two hours hasn't done many C3's correctly. I don't think I've ever had one out of the shop in less then two hours, and these are cars with all new parts. Some I've had take up to three hours with all good but older parts. So expect to pay good money for a good alignment.
