Guys, I have this CFI and it surges just a little bit around 100 RPMs when I hold the gas steady. I know it don't sound like much but when your torque converters locked up and it's in OD at 1500RPMs you can feel it!!! So far I check for vacc leaks, fuel pressure, TPS with a volt meter. Everything check out! Only the TPS I'm not sure about? The voltage went up to 500mlv but it jumped around alittle. Maybe its my meter? Anyone have suggestion?

The tps shouldn't jump. Should climb steadily for .525 to 4.5 volts. Could be that. Could be one bad IAC. Could be a vibration in the flap on the air cleaner...the vaccum controlled one.
Check your throttle shafts on the TB's and see if you have movement, especially if you can hear them when you wiggle the shafts. If there is movement (Up/down) then you have the notorious Crossfire vacuum leak.
Could also be an IAC as jdp6000 said. As for the TB shafts being lose, you can have them bushed and will never have a problem again. This is where I had my done: http://crossfireinjection.net/
I also installed the 85 fuel pump, rebuilt and balanced the TB's and now runs probably better than it did new.
Good Luck!
Its proabably the throttle shafts. If you spend the money to have them rebuild why not upgrade a little? I just received new TBI units that I ordered. They are bored out to 1.9", have 80# injectors and A&N fuel line fittings. The fuel pressure regulator has been blocked off and I am installing an external regulator. I also have a ported intake manifold. I also have a programable computer with the prominator board in it as well as a spare computer out of a 90 caprice classic I think it is the 8746 computer that is a bit faster than our stock computers.
The 90 Caprice classic will work? Thats with bigger injectors and board TBI's right? Just curious. My friend owns a scrapper and I can probably get those. Is it worth will to go with the 90 Caprice computer on a stock motor? I have the 85 pump. I can increase the pressure to 14 psi.
From what i understand yes. All of this came of an 84 Z28 with crossfire. I have two computers one is the stock from the caprice calssic the other is the sam computer but with a prominator board installed in to allow programing. I am going to check with the guys on the crossfire forum for more info. I just wanted the ported intake and TBI units but I ended up getting a bunch of other goodies that went with the purchase.

My shafts have alittle wiggle w/ no noise. Can you tell me how much the bored TBs cost you? I think you maybe right about the shafts. I'll spray some silicone on the shafts and see if it improves.
The computer up grade you guys are talking about, are they plug and play or do you have to cut and splice everything? What adjustments can you do with the newer computer?(AFR table adjustment, timing,TCC, idle, ect...)

Unless you are now running a 377ci motor or larger with a lot of mods to boot, you don't need another ECM like the 1227747 or 1228746. But to answer your question, they are plug and play as far as plugging into the exsisting harness via a HAM board though, after that the tuning begins and there is a rather steep learning curve. As far as adjustments go, you can tweak everything, it just doesn't make sense to do that to a stock or mostly stock CF motor though. Hope this helps.

In that case...yes you will need one of the two ECMs mentioned and have them HAM'd to connect to your stock harness. 406 CF... Yeah baby, my next motor hopfully will be a 454SB CF.

454sbc Man I would love to have one of those!!! My buget only allows for used sb that I can have machined and a summit speed pro rebuild kit. Usually I can build a long block for under $1500.00. I can only imagine what a 454sb cost with the special timing chain,cam,pushrods,oilpan,ect.... I would still like to know what a bore and rebuild job on my TBIs would cost??? Anybody?
If you have never had the fuel pump out, you may want to check the small rubber line that connects the pump to the hard line, they tend to swell and lose seal and loss of fuel pressure. If you find this issue while you have it out go ahead and replace the pump with an 85 pump.

I never pulled the pump. Do I need any gaskets or can I just pull it? I tried spraying silicone oil on the throddle blade shaft and I can't tell if its sucking air through the shafts. Some days the surge is more noticable than others. P.S. anything I can do to make the fuel gauge work better? Around a 1/4 tank it starts to stick. THANKS
There is a gasket at the top you will need. Sounds like you will have to pull it. Not sure if thats the cause of your surging. Sounds like the float is getting hung up on something.

also has small o-rings on each screw...I've been able to reuse both..but you never know. again this maynot be the issue just something to check. had issue with my 82 and that is what fixed it.

Can I get gaskets and o-ring at an autozone or should I order it before I pull it apart.

You may want to call first..the o-rings can be found at most auto parts stores.. be careful bending the arm to fix the sticking float. the fuel lines are a pain to get off and it takes a bit of working the assembly around to get it out. do a search on 82 or 85 fuel pumps here lots of info will come up. there is also a good site on crossfires someone posted above.
