Started my moch assembly on the rebuild last night and checked the Ring gap. It came in @ .021 which I thouhgt was a little to wide. All the manuals I have read state it should be between .016 - .024. Now I can get rings .005 larger and bring the gap down to .016 which I feel would provide a better seal, but I am asking you all what is your opinion.
it all depends on what you are doing withe motor and what kind of pistons you are you using. If you using hyperuetics(sp) then you need a wider end gap.I always get file to fit rings and do it myself.ive run 20-22 on the street and havent had a problem .If yo can get larger then i would and file them down to fit.if its just a daily driver. You into sprint cars?ive been into asphalt modifieds and dirt sportsman for 7 years.
