There should be a place to hook it on the firewall right below where the clutch rod comes through. I can't remember if it is a distinct tab or just a small hole in a plate that the rod goes through.
DZ, that is the anti-rattle spring. The return spring attaches to a small hole in the firewall bracket just below the steering column. It is a pain to connect.

I thought mine didn't have one either (being an automatic originally) but in fact, it did, on the bracket that the steering column comes through the firewall, is a small hole on the left side of the ridge of the bracket. (strategically out of view!)
