Comp camshaft question ???
I have searched this forum (and the web) and read a lot about the great and bad of the EXTREME ENERGY cam design. I have not found much about the older HIGH ENERGY product line.

I've run High Energy cams in the past. Other than my opinion that CompCams tends to place LSA's too close for my preferences, I've really nothing bad to say about HE's. Yes, it's an "older" design, but it depends on the intended purpose whether or not a more current lobe design is necessary to make a meaningful difference. They are still viable for what they we designed to do, and that's why they are still in the catalog.
The old 268H was a great 5500 rpm or so cam in a relatively mild motor. In fact I've recommended it to several friends lately. For what they were doing, it's perfect.
With durations that are small, a tight LSA gets a little overlap that you need to make them run strong. It's all relative. We've been using a 107LSA solid flat tappet in some 327's and 383's and it will amaze you how sweet it idles and drives. Great little street cam that makes great TQ and will pull to 7500 rpm if you want to. Plus it doesn't hurt stuff.
Huum must be the energizer, they all look to be single pattern,
what would be wrong with the PowerMax ??
Energizer cams are sold by Crane now but they were originaly from Cam Dynamics (before they sold out to Crane). They are single pattern cams and as such they work better if the exhaust head flow is upgraded from stock IMHO. You will leave power on the table from most of the models I have run. I ran the Energizer 284 in a 357 for some time. Decent performance but there are better grinds out there IMHO.
As for the Comp 268H - it is a good choice if you want to upgrade an otherwise stock vehicle. It works well with stock CR etc. Sort of like upgrading an L-48 to more like an L-82 without changing CR.
