Help.... can't decide on which cam
Tell them what you have, what it is going in, and what you want out of it. Compare their suggestions and that will give you a good idea. They know alot more about their cams than I do.
You can also talk to some good engine builders.
I had a friend with a cam that was so rough in his 72 454 that it was really unpleasant to ride in. Plus it would not make enough vacuum at idle to operate the headlights or wiper door. He would have to manually open them. He may have had other vacuum issues but his cam was so lumpy he didn't have good vacuum.





But, unfortunately, it is turning into a game of Russian Roulette as to whether you'll get someone who actually knows what they're talking about and/or who cares all that much. I'm no cam guru, but I've often found when I wander off of the main menu or ask something not covered in the catalog that many techs don't have a clue where I've gone.
Unless you talk to someone you already trust, I suggest questioning them enough about their recommendations that they convince you of their knowledge before you take their advice as gospel.
