4L60-E transmission swap
couple weeks ago i purchased an Lt1 from a 94 z28. The tranny was rebuilt, new flexplate and torque converter. I recently increased my HP in my 79 vette. As a result my turbo 350 tranny now needs an overhaul. My question is will the tranny from the 94 z28 bolt into my 79? If so, correct me if i;m wrong the 4L60-E is electronic and also has overdrive. what other parts will I need?

The 4L60E is similar to the 700R4/4L60. The E denotes that most functions (upshifts/downshifts and converter lockup) are controlled by the ecm. The700R4/4L60 ecm controls only the converter lockup. Use of the 4L60E transmission might be possible but will require an ecm and harness to function. Why not consider swapping in the entire LT1 and 4L60E?
