Vette makes 949 RWHP
Daren put the Vette on the dyno at school today and made a couple of pulls to see what kind of power we are making with the IRS before we remove it in favor of a straight axle.
Much to my surprise, on the second pull, it put down 949 RWHP at 7295 RPM. That number is N/A with an auto trans.
Wonder what it would make at the wheels with a 400 shot of juice?

Wow almost 1000HP from a 454ci at the rear wheels, that would be well over a 1000HP at the crank, what are the specs on the motor ?

Not a 454 anymore.
It is a 14.5:1, BMF headed 565.
Guess I should have specified .

Great numbers. I wouldn't be surprised to see it over a 1000 with the straight axle.

That is what I am thinking too. I figure the HD half shafts and 1480 u-joints probably eat at least an extra 50 HP.
We will see.

That would be cool. The biggest I have seen so far is a 488 SBC. 555 would be an insane SB.

Wow...that's some killer power!
It's going to be great to see the solid axle HP numbers. I really wonder if they eat that much? From some Super Stocker folks I've talked to they seldom gain much, if anything (one even lost going from a Dana 60 IRS like mine to a solid 12 bolt...which was REALLY strange!) going from an IRS to a solid as far as performance goes....but I've never seen back to back dyno numbers. This will be fun!
Those BMF heads are the real deal!
