Default Maybe sombody can help me identifying my engine block??

The casting number at the back near the flywheel says:
GM
3970010 K12
At the front beside of the waterpump there are several other numbers...
KOI10DRB
191154302

This engine should be 2 bolt engine.
Anybody knows something about it´s originally HP rating??

There is a good chance that this engine isn´t even from a corvette....
BTW it´s a 350cui.... (they told me it should be)

Markus,
wouldn´t be a problem, but now I´m in the UK - not having my books with me at all!
Hopefully some other memebers will help you! Otherwise you will have to wait until Friday night when I´m back in Germany!
See you!

Markus,

You are the proud owner of a 1979 350 cid out of a 1979 pass. car, 170 hp with a 4bbl and auto tranny.

K=St Catherines, Ontario, Canada Plant
0I = January
10=tenth day of month
DRB is the suffix code.

markus p best check out the mortec web site for GM casting #'s as the 3970010 block was used for a lot of years. they also used that block for 2 bolt and 4 bolt mains. My 77 as that block # and is a 2 bolt main. My 76 has the same block casting #3970010. and the K12 and it is a 4 bolt . I think the web site is http://www.mortec.com

Thanks for this fast answer!!! :eek:
I´m defenitely impressed.... It´s like UPS same day delivery.... :crazy:

170 HP isn´t really much isn´t it?
My engine builder said this is a high performance two bolt block....:sad:
OR WAS THIS BLOCK USED FOR HIGHER RATED HP ENGINES TOO?
WHAT DOES YOUR BOOKS SAY ABOUT THE HIGHEST HP NUMBER that this casting had to handle?
THAT would be interesting..... :mad
They build up the engine to 330 DIN PS.....
It´s not that I´m in fear that the engine couldnt handle this, but I´m angry that they always say high performance here, high performance there....
grrrrmpf :mad :reddevil
