Default 12V switched source?

I'm setting up the new exhaust on my 71 LS5 and I'm going to need a 12V switched source too hook my QTP cutouts up to. Where is the closest/easiest wire to tap? Any suggestions?

for my two cents the best way without splicing is to run a wire through the firewall to the fuse box and plug into the free ignition swith terminal

good advise given above, but go one step further and use the switched wire from the ign lug on the fuse panel to control a relay. that way you'll have no limit (other than a fuse) on how much current you can control.

Yup, there are a couple of spare male spade lugs in the fuse panel. Some are switched from the ignition and others are hot all the time. I have my stereo hooked up to a hot one so I can play the radio without the key.

I believe there is also 1 unused ign. spade and 1 unused batt. spade on the ignition switch.
