my pass door is a little lower than driver side on handle end. i also got too large a gap on top of door where it meets fender. i was wondering if i can adjust door up. and if so will it still close properly as it does now? hinges seem ok. and if so ,holw do you adjust. i cant find this in service manual. i also tried this in paint section but had no answers. thanks , nutsy.
thanks MURRYBS. I TAKE IT THERE IS NO WAY TO ADJUST hinge? sorry for caps.
That's essentially what you're doing with that tool, it basically bends the hinges upward.
I did it on my F-Body to fix a MAJOR embarrassment from when I lowered the car on a lift and the door snagged on a barrel, giving me an unwanted scissor-door on the driver's side.
But yeah, the tool locks into your door (it has what looks like a striker post on one end and a semicircle on the other end to put around the striker on the door) and there's a nut welded to it that you use a wrench on to tweak your door up or down the desired amount.
Before you go and slam your door at the new height, try closing it gently to see if the striker needs adjustment.
you can adjust it thru the hinge bolts...all 14 of them that hold the hinge. good luck once you start it usually ends up worse then before you started. try adjusting the striker first
this can be adjusted by the hinge bolts inside the door.(do not mess with the ones behind the kick panels) Loosen the top ones and lift the door slightly using the bottom hinge as an axis.It is all trial and error . If you just move the striker then the door will be using the striker to lift itself up ,eventually causing a problem. You also need to check your door to rocker gar. Is it even?
Lining panels is an art form. If you take your time and are patient (numerous minute adjustments is what it usually takes.
AND NEVER LOOSEN UP ALL THE HINGE BOLTS AT ONCE !!!
MURRAY, THERE IS ONLY A SLIGHT BIT OF PLAY IN PINS. NOT ENOUGH TO CAUSE THIS LARGE GAP. ROAD RACE, HOW do i get at hinge in door? do i remove door hande and window crank then panel? and then only loosen top hinge? also rocker gap looks even but i would rather it be a hair off than have this gap.
i removed access door for top hinge. i took 1 bolt out and the door looks like it can only be adjusted up and down, right now its all the way up so is it still pssible if i loosen bottom hinge to **** door ? seems like door may not adjust this way. only up and down.

Take the door panel and the upper access plate off, as well as the kick panel. Using the four hinge mounting points, the door can be adjusted forward and back, up and down. The door mounting is designed to be adjusted - trying to bend the hinges would be stupid. If a hinge actually is bent, good used replacements should be easily available - if not new reproduction parts.
