This is the newest project. It will be a vintage road race tribute. The car is a 70 LS5 but it will look like a 69. I always do midyears but this is something I'v wanted to do since I sold my last grandsport. The car will be red, white and blue. The orig LS5 will get sold. If anyone needs one let me know. It is getting a 540 with a Richmond 5 speed. It is getting the FIA headlights and ft air dam. We pulled the body off last weekend and today I started the body work. I do need some ideas on a decent race type seat. I had the roll bar made so it could be removed. I wanted to be able to remove the body. The motor will be dressed as an L88 with the correct air box in the hood. I am going to detail the chassis just as I have my other cars. I love the way these cars look when done like this so I should enjoy this build. I know some are going to say why a coupe. Most of the famous cars are conv. I like a coupe much better cause they just feel more soild. So a coupe it is. I'll try to post pics as i make progress. Brian G.[IMG][/IMG][IMG][/IMG][IMG][/IMG]

Ray. glad they worked out for you. I'll be selling alot of parts from this car. Yea it will be to the level of my GS. I miss the GS. I'm hoping this can take it's place.
It looks like you glassed in the bumper cover seams. How did you attach the covers to the body? I over-built my bumper-body joints when I did mine and haven't had a problem in almost 5 years.
What filler are you using on those rough spots? Good job by the way...
For bonding I use the bond that Corvette Image sells. For filling like around the flares I use Evercoat vette adhesive and filler. Finish work is just everyday bondo. Because of the amount of work that will be done to this body i will use a polyester primer.
Polyester primers are better for filling and also is a harder surface than urethane primers. You can lay on a much higher mil thickness than urethane also. Think of it as a spray on bondo. On bodys that have little filler I use DP 90 which is epoxy and then urethane primer over that. But with a car with basicly a coat of filler over almost the whole car I perfer polyester primer. Theres always gelcoat but I have never gone that route.
The motor was fresh when I bought the car. It was somebodys project. When I bought it I was thinking of restoring it but the more I looked at the car the more orig. things I found missing . It looks like the only orig. parts where the motor and the rear. I'm thinking about 3000. carb to pan. No assy brackets , dist. or fan. I will take offers.
