Default Hooker headers for '77

Got a chance to pick up some Hooker shorty engine hugger headers from a friend of mine that use to have them on his '78 350. I've always gone with the long tube type headers but in some of the posts I have read that they sometimes create a problem around the steering control valves and other parts on the driver side. Anyone have any thoughts on these shorty's? Will I get the same results as the long tubes. Just starting on the mods and these will be connecting to 2 1/2 pipes, no cats, and Magnaflows.

I have never been happy with the performance of shorties, as opposed to long tubes. Honestly, in a lot of applications they aren't much better than stock manifolds. It all depends on what your priorites are, and the individudal vehicle in question. I personally hate manifolds, and would go with shorties over them anyday, but if local emissions laws and clearance permits it, I would go with long tubes every time.

I don't know about the short headers but I have long tube Dynomax headers on my 77 and they fit around everything perfectly.
