They were intended to get Caprice Classics & full-size wagons moving, and not much-else:
I do recall hearing that before Chevrolet killed the Z28 for the '75 model year, a few were built as test-mules, using the siamese-bore 400" SBC, which provided 14-second flat ETs, quite-quick for the parameters of that era, but the Z28 lay dormant until mid '77, then came on-line with the LM-1 175 HP version of the 350" SBC.
