For those who have MSD/HEI ignition, what type of plug wires did you use. Did you stay with the MSD brand, use stock ones, or another type? Does it matter?
Any good quality plug wire will work fine. This is kind of like asking what brand motor oil to use or what wax is best.
I would look for a well shielded, low resistance, high temp wire set. From there you have lots of choices in color, boot length, etc. It comes down to whatever you like best.
In one of my cars with the MSD ignition, I have Taylor wires. In another with MSD coil packs (LS1 engine), I have MSD wires.
Quality is quality...just use that for a guideline.

I read where they suggest 40-50 ohms/ft of resistance (which happens to be....taa....daaa.....MSD wires only), I did not know if that is an absolute or not.
I'm sure MSD wants you to buy their wires for your car...the same if you had an Accel, Mallory or any other brand distributor...they all want you to buy their stuff and will tell you their's is best.
The wires do one thing...transmit a spark signal. Less resistance may do a better job...for racing. For a street car the difference may be measurable by sophisticated equipment, but your car may not know the difference. Too low a resistance may also cause interference in your radio as well if not properly shielded.
I don't think you'll notice any difference between one quality set and another.
I am running a full MSD ignition, with the cable tach drive. The first set of MSD wires were right out of the box and fit ok, ran great.. I then bought there MSD universal wires that comes with regular style and hei ends that you make yourself. Buy making them yourself you can make it look mint and avoid any hotspots with exhaust. The part numbers depend on the plug end your running. Red or black wires are available..Look on Ebay under MSD universal wires and save 40%!
During the night i went threw my MSD paperwork that they include with there items. They give you a list of compatible and non compatible parts, such as what coils work and dont work, what wires to use..
If you didnt buy the system yet you can call them and they will help with part numbers and answer any question you have. Heres the contact info .... 915-855-7123
