This is sort of technical but for the shop not the car. So if this is in the wrong forum would a moderator please relocate it.
What is the optimal temperature for the shop with the car in it? It is -25*C now and will be getting to -40*C (-40*F) in the future. What temp do you like to keep the shop at when you are not working in it? I have nautral gas heat but don't want to keep it too warm when I'm not in it. Is just a little above freezing okay for the car or should it ALWAYS be kept fairly warm?
Fortunately we don't have a real big problem with the cold here in South Texas but it does get cold. I have my shop temp set at 40. My shop is 24x36 and well insulated.

We don't get as cold as you do but I like to keep the detatched car barn in the low to mid 40's and crank it up a bit when I have my afternoon beer and cigar
I would keep it around 5° C which should be more than enough. Practically the shop temperature should only be around 20° when doing paint or body work.
If I work on my vette, I keep the shop around 15°. When you are working that is more than enough.
