Default Help with Caliper Rebuild

This question is concerning my 76. Ive done the search but cant find the specific answer that I am looking for. I cant seem to install the lip seal on to the caliper with out bending or distorting the seal. I have tried to press it with a piece of similar diameter pipe in my bench press and hammer with the piece of pipe. Keep distorting them. Any tips?

I never had any trouble just taping them in a little at at a time. Your not trying to put the front seals in the rear calipers are you?

After searching and reading more I realized that I am describing the parts inaccurately. I can get the lip seal in the caliper just fine. Its the darn dust boot that I cant seem to install with out distorting.

It`s only a interferance fit. You should not be having problems inserting the dust boot. And the area must be clean.

Thanks for the replys. It ended up being that I hadnt cleaned the boot ring area well enough. After a better cleaning they go right in. Thank you.

I use the white PVC plumbing caps and a hammer to tap em in, a 1" for the rears and a 1 1/2" for the fronts.
