Default Seat Removal

How do I remove the stock seats in my 79? If anyone has any suggestions, it would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Doug

Four bolts per seats. Slide them all the way back to access the front bolts, and slide the seat all the war forward to access the rear bolts.

You'll have to disconnect the seat belt receiver wires for the seat belt warning light.

Remove seat, collect change, throw the old French fries away, and have a beer.

and if your talking about just the cushions , then ya gotta squeeze in the sides like you were squeezing someones shoulders together for the top cushion so they pop out of the clip ( getting them back in the clips is harder) and the bottoms once the top is out you can slide them towards the rear so there clip comes off.

doug,
you may encounter nuts on the underside of the floorpan too, if at some point in the past the threads were stripped out, i have seen more than a few with longer bolts and nuts/washers on the underside securing the seats. just a heads up for you.

I did not find any squirrel nuts under mine But when I took mine out I found alot of screws, even found where some of them went.

For the back bolts I put all my extensions together so I did not have to worry about hitting my knuckles on the seat.

100%, if you can use a long extension it is very easy. Can take out both in about 10 minutes.........LT

I'm trying this same thing on my '76. I was looking at the AIM and it shows all of the bolts being on the inside of the car. However, when I push the seats back, I can't see the front bolts. Am I doing someting wrong, or am a losing it?

Maybe a previous owner removed them already? Get a flashlight, and check out the front of the tracks. There are either bolts, studs, or the tracks should come loose. I would hate to think Bubba would have epoxied the seat tracks down.

Since I'm going to replace the carpet anyway (yippee), I'm just going to cut the carpet around the bolt and see what is going on.

My front bolts are under carpet flaps, the back ones I get to with a very long extension. As said above, I can have both out in 10 minutes.

Don't switch the seats when you put them back either. That one puzzeled me for quite a while. Why won't these holes line up: OH, IT"S THE WRONG DAMN SEAT.

just removed mine last week, 2 bolts in front , 2 in back, found the best thing was a long extension , otherwise you are fighting the seat cushion and sides for the front bolts and the base of the seat back for the rears, get the extension. found a few things but the prize was the seat adjuster ball that I thought was MIA, must have come loose and found a home under there. good luck

I pulled my seats out last week and I didn't have and extension. It took a half hour.
