is there a way to install the door handle with out messing up the paint it seems when i remove it had to twist and turn to get free from the rod thats bent over thanks.
They are a pain in the a$$ to do. If you take your time you dont have to twist it. It is easyer if you take out the screws that hold the latch so you can get your hands up in there. Just take your time and it will go in.
It's not an easy task to change a door handle on a C3. I did remove it a few time and you have to be very patient and careful and have tree hand double jointed . You might drop the nut inside the door a few times before you finish. So prepare yourself to have something to grab the nut just in case.
I find the most PIA is the rear most bolt/nut on the handle itself...best done with a 1/4 inch drive, universal, 12" extension, handle, and then a ratchet to tighten it down snug....
the rod to the mechanism is best done by pulling the latch off the door frame, and letting it dangle, this way you can get at the clip holding that actuating lever....note that it goes behind someother mechanism there, maybe a key lock, so from inside it's not obviously visible....
I found it's easier to use a wire loop and twist it around the stem of the door handle/locklatch mechanism...than mess with the clip GM used...
