Which motor are you looking at?
They have several 383 strokers available.
I have their 475hp unit, only recently installed and not run in yet. (400 miles) Sounds awesome at idle... not too radical, but definitely has a lope. Hood clearance is an issue with the airgap manifiold.
I can just fit it under my stock sb 68 hood with a drop base 1.5" element. This is temporary, as it is restrictive. I have an L88 scoop which I will mold into my hood to provide adequate clearance for a decent sized air filter.

I liked the specs that they provided, and motor does feel strong.

Note it is run up (hot tested as you say) to bed in valve train, check for leaks (water, oil, vaccuum) and check for proper temperature through block.
It is NOT run on a dyno under load.

I have some issues with carb jetting, even though it was hot tested. Just getting a few more miles on it before I put it on the dyno to set up properly. It's running a little too rich and fouling the plugs in city traffic. I've put in a hotter plug and its running better during the current run in process. There's also a stutter just off idle.... just as you touch the throttle, and it doesn't like sitting on 1600~1800 rpm. An issue with the transition from the idle circuit to the main circuit. Will need to massage the metering rod to get it right..... I'll leave that to my tuner.

I have only pulled up to 4000 rpm so far, and it puts a smile on my face. The combination of putting in a stroker, AND replacing my auto with a manual box, has completely transformed the character of my vert. I love it!
I'll change the oil if I get the time this weekend, and hopefully get a chance to take it out so as to pull a bit more rpm.
From the Dynosim analysis that Billa did for me, it should continue to pull strong to 5500.

It will be interesting to see how the actual chassis dyno data matches up to the dynosim and the claimed enginefactory rating.
I have a TKO-600 box and expect no more than a 20~25% overall losses... I am hoping for at least 350 rwhp.

Engine factory isn't the cheapest source of a crate engine, but they have a good reputation. I went with them as I needed it delivered overseas, to Australia. They have a local agent who I can deal with here, which gives me a bit of additional peace of mind.

cheers
