Default Question about liner on t-top

On my 79, the liner on the drivers side will not stay attached. It appears there are these finger like things on there that interlace into each other, and you are suppose to just push them together and they stay. The passenger side does stay, but the drivers side will not. It keeps falling down. They also appear to be glued onto the liner and the t-top itself. What can I do? Any suggestions? Thanks

I started to answer this earlier but the phone rang.I've had pretty good luck by removing the top and turning it over and putting weight on the liner. In the summer I set it out in the sun and then add heat with a heat gun or hair dryer. The liner usually reforms and after cooling stays in place.

ABove is a possibility IF the main section is not affected....

I had a top to my '72 here, lifted the warped dried out vinyl and recovered the pieces of basic cardboard/eggcrate backing with something known as 'Polor Fleece' from a yard goods store....

the Egg crate was soaked clean through once stripped, and propped in postition to dry in the sunlight....then recovered in the material...

fit fine for nearly 6? years.....I sold the top as in Florida, it's totally not needed....

When I got mine from corvette amer. instructions that came with them said to put construction adhesive on the velcro like pads. I have also heard they did that at the factory.Worked well.

Thanks. It may have a little warp to it, but just barely. It is in pretty good shape, so I will try the suggestions posted here once it warms up a bit. Thanks to everyone....

On my 79 the drive'r's side also always falls down. It's done it ever since I had to get a replacment t top because the original one was broken from where someone tried to break into the car. 8 months out of the year I don't really care because the tops are off, but right about now is when I think about what can I do to get it to permanenely stay up there. The same headliner stayed in place fine on the old t top.

How often do you take the headliners out. If the answer is not very often....Then just squeeze some epoxy into the fingers, join them up, and put some weight on the liner. It will never fall down again!!

I really wouldn't see any reason to take the headliners out since they come out with the tops. This sounds like the thing to do. Thank you for your advice. Would super glue work as well, or do you think epoxy would be better? Or maybe some kind of cement.

I see amber 3M weatherstip adhesive fairly often.I wonder now if that is factory.
