My 1979 and 1981 Vettes have a lot of bounce since we installed the Vette Brakes Composite Springs on the rear....I am going to order the HAL-TC-1574 Stocker Star REARS ($149.95 each at Summit) for both cars....Do I need to install HAL TC-1958 Shocks ($139.95 each at Summit) on the FRONTS too? Both cars run straight line racing. No left turn / right turn racing. Front shocks are in very good condition and they were recently installed. Since these shocks are very expensive....I would like to get away with only the rears if that's possible... Aloha Cappy :seeya

Re: HAL Shocks???? (8T1-7T9 BIONIC VETTE)
Since you are not doing road course, and just doing straight line, you could get away with the rears only.
I see no reason why you would change out the fronts, except that the new fronts would be adjustable also. You could adjust the re-bound rate to it's lowest setting which would allow for better weight transfer.
Please let me know what you think of these shocks as I wish to use them also.
I have the HAL/QA1 shocks on all 4 corners, with the VB&P Performance Plus Suspension (Front composite transverse spring with rear composite dual mount rear spring). The HAL shocks really woke up the VB suspension. They are really pretty good for almost all applications - street, road course, and drag strip - that's the great thing about them, you ahve several different shock in one. Unlike alot of other adjustable shocks, the HAL's truly are adjustable and have a very wide range - from Cadillac soft to race car stiff. I would recommend going with the fronts as well, the reason being that you can soften up the front shocks to let the front end rise quicker, transferring more wieght to the rear. Kinda like having 90/10 shocks, but with a couple of easy 'clicks' you are back to your street setup.
Okay I'll go with the rears first...then install the fronts when the money pot builds up again.....Going to the track tonight.....I'm running those 17" rims with the 255/50/ZR17's tires......should I let some air out of the back tires?....Last time I ran...I was terrible....sleeping in the lights....not shifting gears....took off in drive, without cranking the rpms up to at least the stall convertor speed of 3000.....still smoked the tires....and did 13.5.....tonight I hope to get down in the 12's or better.....Oh dreaming again....It's also way pass my medications.....Aloha and thanks for the info Monty and Bsery :seeya
