Default Shift lever question

I have '77 L82. Need to remove transmission. Started with shift lever. Got ****, T-lever, console trim and boot all off. I removed the one bolt that goes front to rear thinking lever will then just slide up, but it doesn't come. Haynes manual doesn't explain well. Anybody?

The shifter is bolted to the crossmember under the car.

I just did this. There is a bolt just below the shifter arm attaching the shifter to the shifter mount. Loosen the bolt until it seperates from the mount. Go below, unhook the shift linkage from the tranny, and the shifter mount from the crossmember. Pull everything out from the bottom in one piece. If you also remove the tranny mount, there is plenty of room to slide the tranny back, tip it forward, and slide it out. Remember to hold up the rear of the engine! Good Luck!
