it pretty cool....not sure how it works but is pretty accurate....I see you have a zz4 and as do i, and i entered in all the info from it and came out pretty damn close
the 2 things you need to really need to know are your head spec and cam specs
However, its not worth teh $$ if you already have a motor...i would only get it if you were building a motor from your specs
I was hoping someone with it could run my info into it. I just put zz4, dad wouldnt let me get hotcam. I thought i should have been allowed to get it since I payed for the whole thing, it was like $300 more for 395 hp, sounded good to me. But he said a 16 yr old doesnt need 395 hp. So I figured I would have to settle with a measly old stock zz4  Anyways I just put the engine in and ran a whole new exhaust system. Was wondering what specs they would need to run it if anyone would do it for me. Would really appreciate it.
It works OK as a tool to decide on cams as long as you understand that the program has a number of limits that prevent you from putting together an engine combination from scratch. The program assumes perfect timing and carb tuning throughout the RPM range (don't we all wish). Intakes are limited to type, ie dual plane, tunnel ram. Carbs. are treated the same a 600 CFM carb is just that, not vacuum secondary or mechanical. No inch diameter for the exhaust, just duals or open headers and some other choices.
Information needed is;
Cubic inches
bore
stroke
number of cylinders
type of cylinder head - low performance, pocket ported, ported
valve sizes
compression ratio
Carb CFM
manifold type
exhaust type, headers or stock
camshaft
lifter
ALL cam specs.
If anybody knows of a program to sort out carbs and intake manifolds please let me know.
you power should be the same as the stock ZZ4, mabey a few higher. i believe the power rating on the ZZ4 was made from the factory with headers on the motor. so the exhaust, IMO, wouldnt make much differnce than the factory rating.
A desktop Dyno program as well as a quarter mile program are as important as any performance products you may purchase. You can get both programs for around $150. total...less than a carb, cam and kit, gears, etc. You'll find that the carb you just HAVE to have may only make a couple HP difference or that set of gears actually SLOWED you down in the quarter mile or made only one or two thousandeths differance ET. If you like to tinker as I do those soft-ware programs are as important as the torque-wrench in your tool box. Just my .02
P.S. If you don't have the money right now...it's the right time of year to put them on your Christmas list!
i couldnt figure out how to post copy the dyno picture from the program. sorry :( but i compared a zz4 with a set of small tube headers vs. large tube headers and found a ten horsepower differnce. i can up with 357 vs. 367.
you know what else is fun...bethesda's Burnout:p:layers Choice Edition. They don't make it anymore(stupid morons)...anyway, its a fun dragracing game, you can play it online, and build drag cars from the suspencion to the engine to the wing on the car. It can be a dragster, funny car, or stock car. They only have one vette...a '53....
There is also bethesda's Burnout: NIRA version. It comes with imports in the game, but you can import american cars from Players Choice Edition. The plus about NIRA is you get the option of turbo's and superchargers...its fun to play with and race online...but its not very popular anymore. It uses the same technology as desktop dyno for the engine...and in fact you can import desktop dyno engines into the game.
