where is the option for "never really looked"???
I just always assumed I don't even have one..just the empty carrier...and we all know you have to bend down and get low to see if you have one...I've never done that...never interested me that much....I guess tomarrow I'll take the second to look...I'll vote then.

Hey Pedro,
You have one of those infamous Firestone 500's. They were all supposed to be recalled and replaced back in 1977. Yours is about 24 years too late. They probably won't replace it with their latest batch of junk tires.

Right up there where GM put it almost 24 years ago. Still on it's bright yellow rim ... still has the little rubber "hairs" on the tread. Never been used. :D

I discovered on my wedding trip that I had an original working spaire :D ...with low pressure  . Sure was glad to be 100 feets from a garage. Be sure to check the pressure once in a while. Good thing too, the jackstand was very greassy and working well. I wonder why the 255/60 r15 don't fit under the car. Had to get the luggage out of the car to put the wheel in the car, the flat couldn't be repaired. Actually, it was leaking from the wheel, a two pieces draglite centerline 20 year old...there's a joint of silicone on it that was cracked.

Re: Who has their original spare tire? (My75Vette)
well I checked...I don't have a spare...I guess I don't even need the carrier then...I think when the carrier comes off to rebuild rear end, I won't put it back(not to start another conversation about its saftey)...

The spare on my 74 hasen't probably seen the light of day since late 73. In fact I still has all 4 orig. Goodyear Steelguards on it.

It may be the original, but its definitely been used. I took it down once and put it right back up hoping never to see it again. It looked like some kind of animal had been eating it for breakfast. Next time I get my tires replaced, I'll change it with one of those. Until then, I just hope I don't get a flat.

I’m not 100% about it’s originality, but it looks cool!

I have two spares. One out of a 1970, and the other out of a 72. Both are on factory rims. I also have the jacks for both.
I have no spares on my custom cars. :D

Re: Who has their original spare tire?
Any of you guys w/ an original spare tire like Pedro'74, you don't have a spare ! One of those came apart internally at over 100 & put the spare on for a few miles & "idled" i.e. speed limit to next town. Next time the spare was needed it looked like the one of Pedro'74. Same story came apart just sitting in carrier. The best thing to do w/ it is sell or store w/ 0-very little air pressure to sell to NCRS guy who doesn't drive. Anyway when I got new tires I passed a cop on the freeway when I was on the entrance ramp. No way to keep a Vette Hot Rodder down for long.

Re: Who has their original spare tire?
I have what may be an original tire, but it was used (for a while judging by the beat-up wheel). It is one of those old F70 tires. It is up in my attic, right next to my carrier (one day, I'm going to fab up a t-top holder out of my carrier).
